I'm BACK!

20071011

Who would have guessed. . . .

So, more about the continuing saga with my hip. I went to the new Dr. last week, who looked at the MRI and said that I have a synovitis in my hip (basically a build up of excess fluid). He said that this is what is causing my pain, so we needed to figure out what caused it. So I had some blood work done and went back this morning, thinking that there was no way that blood work would show what was wrong with my hip. Well, this morning the Dr. said I am very anemic - and wouldn't you know that the condition in my hip can be a result of anemia. So now we need to try to get the anemia under control - which means more blood tests to figure out what is causing it. I am also supposed to start on iron pills, which should help. So long story short - who would have ever though that hip pain could be a result of anemia?

I am still banned from running for the time being, at least until we get my blood tests back. The hip still hurts pretty bad - I started taking anti-inflamatory pills, which helped a lot for a couple days, but the pain has come back to almost as bad as it was before. But at least now I feel like I am on the right track to getting all of this figured out and fixed. Dr. said once we get the test results back "we can talk" about doing the half marathon in January.

Glad to see you found a doctor who's taking you seriously! Good luck with the tests and treatment, though it sounds like you'll be up and running in no time.
