I'm BACK!

20060214

A couple fantastic discoveries:

1. Jellow Fat Free Carmel & Vanilla Pudding - Cut up an apple and dip it - SO GOOD!

2. Laughing Cow Low Fat Cheese - 1 Point per wedge and the best low fat cheese I have found.

3. La Tortilla low carb tortillas - I tried the herb flavored ones and they are so good (1 = 0 points but 2 = 2 points). I made a wrap with the tortilla spred with the laughing cow cheese, healthy choice turkey and lettuce - only 2 points and very delicious!

On a different note, I am trying to stick to WW's 8 healthy guidlines this week. For the most part this is not too difficult, but I am having trouble with the 2 healthy oils per day. Any suggestions?

What are the Good Health Guidelines?

Weight Watchers stands for healthy weight loss. As you follow TurnAround®, it's important to use these guidelines to boost your health while losing weight.

1. Eat at least 5 servings of vegetables and fruits each day.

2. Choose whole-grain foods, such as brown rice and oats, whenever possible.

3. Include 2 servings of milk products (low-fat [1%] or fat-free) each day. If you are over 50 years old, increase this amount to 3 servings each day.

4. Have some healthy oil (olive, canola, sunflower, safflower, or flaxseed) each day. This habit ensures that you get the essential fatty acids and vitamin E that your body needs. Use the oil on salads, in cooking, or as an ingredient in a mixed dish.

5. Ensure that you are getting enough protein by choosing at least a serving or two of meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dried beans, or soy products each day. Many dairy products are also good sources of protein.

6. Limit added sugar and alcohol.

7. Drink at least 6 glasses of water each day.

8. Take a multiple vitamin-mineral supplement each day.

All 3 varieties of Laughing Cow Lite are soooooooooooooooooooo cheap at Sam's Club. I'll take you.

My new find of the week: Trader Joe's Maple Butternut Squash-- they whip fresh butternut squash with pumpkin pie spices, butter and maple syrup-- it's like less sugary pumpkin pie and only a point per serving. Ironically, I hate pumpkin pie but love this.

You could always mix up a vinaigrette dressing with olive oil to use on salads! There's tons of recipes for it if you do a google search.
