2007
Wow - so no post for a month and now 2 in one day! Lucky you. Actually, Starfruit and Kmbuckeye both posted their New Years Resolutions, so I guess I will share mine also. There are a lot, and some are things I don't like to admit (see resolution #6 about being a perfectionist), so please don't laugh.
1. Obviously, continue to lose weight, eat right, workout and train for a half marathon (and potentially a full marathon. I accomplished a lot in 2006 and need to keep going in 2007.
2. Keep my house clean - I want to be able to have people over without planning it weeks in advance to make sure my house is clean. I want to have clean dishes every night. I want to have clean laundry so I don't have to wash the next day's clothes every day. You get the picture.
3. I want to take more risks, or at least be open to new experiences. Last year I made a goal to step outside of my comfort zone more often - I think looking back I did a lot. Just physically, a year ago I would not have gotten the glasses I wear now, I would not have gotten funky highlights in my hair, I would not wear a lot of the clothes / jewelry that I do now. I think I am also gaining confidence at work and in my interactions with people. I know that losing weight has helped me be open to more and become more confident and I want to keep moving in that direction.
4. I want to be more financially responsible. I need to learn to save. I need to contribute more to my 401K, to my Roth IRA, etc. I don't know where my $ goes right now, but it sure does go quick! I need to learn how to budget and stick to a budget.
5. I want to be more motivated at work. (says the girl sitting at work blogging). I will get more out of it (and so will my firm / clients) if I have a more postivie motivated attitude about what I do.
6. Stealing one from Kmbuckeye - I want to let it go! I want to stop worrying so much. I want to stop being a perfectionist all the time. When I get criticisms, revisions, people say things about me - I want to be able to let it go instead of dwelling on everything and worrying about everything. I am so bogged down with worrying about other people and what other people thing about me!
7. I want to be happy. I want to surround myself with people who make me feel good. I want to revel in my accomplishments instead of focusing on what more I can do. I want to take time to relax and enjoy myself.
Ok, that's enough self improvement for the year. Realistically, there are many things that I probably can't change - there are many things that are so fundamentally part of who I am (i.e. self conscious / perfectionist) - but at least if I am aware of what I want to do to and where I want to be, maybe I can take little steps and if I take enough little steps they will add up! Man, I sound like I should have my own talk show - move over Dr. Phil.

Woo hoo! Here's to building on what you've already accomplished!!! Just having goals is a huge accomplishment in and of itself - it shows that we strive to be better people :)
